The stamps used were Thanks (A1125) and Harvest Happiness (C1463). Have I mentioned that I *love* Thanksgiving?

Color My Heart #16 - autumn colors
This week's challenge at Color My Heart is to use the colors Honey, Goldrush, Autumn Terra Cotta, and Cranberry. I chose to try a technique I haven't done before, to layer stamped images on multiple layers of paper stacked with solid color borders. I was a little worried about how thick this card was going to get so I "cheated" and used my Gypsy, Cricut, and the Art Philosophy Cartridge to cut layers that would fit inside one another. I also got bold and tried a slightly different shape than just a traditional square or rectange. I thought about adding a bow or some ribbon but I had added enough color and layers I wasn't sure if that would be overkill, so here's my card:

This is a gorgeous as well as brilliant card. So, do all the layers nest inside each other (like a puzzle?)? Or are the solid colour pieces layered on top of the stamped paper? Either way, its very inspired!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Caroline, and actually the answer to your question is... both! If you keep all the pieces lying in the direction & relative position they were in on the cutting mat they will fit back together like puzzle pieces quite nicely. So I made mine so the white pieces all nest together and then the colored strips fit right on top *but* you have the cut marks where the white pieces fit together as a perfect placement guide, all you have to do is keep the pieces laid out correctly and it all comes together perfectly. I love projects that look like they took a lot of work but really didn't!
DeleteLOVE ... I see these cards constantly and haven't tried it myself yet either. Your version is great with the shapes. Way to go on being the first to complete the color dare too.
ReplyDeleteI love your card, Annette! The layout is so pretty and I love the shape of the card. I also really love the technique you used for stamping your leaves two-toned! So pretty! Thanks for joining in this week at Color My Heart (and for being on time!) :)
